Vineyard: The grapes for this Spätburgunder Grand Cru were grown int he south-facing VDP.Grosse Gewächs "Sankt Paul" site. The vineyard is situated on a large, limestone rock that has a clayey loamy top soil.
Vinification: The grapes were carefully selected by hand, de-stemmed and fermented on the mash. After three weeks of fermentation in open oak vats they were gently pressed. Maturation took place over 18 months in small oak barrels. The wine was then bottled without filtration.
Wine: An intense and dense ruby red Spätburgunder. This dry red wine has wonderful aromas of blackberry, cherry, tobacco, vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. It has strong tannins, and is punchy yet elegant. Flattering in the mouth with endless play and elegant reverberation. This wine has great storage potential.
